VAR/CITY, a brand new idea of fashion trending towards urban and chic with a ready-to-wear concept composed of bomber jackets, blazers, coats, sweatshirts and t-shirts.
An addition to the “Creative Lab” of the brand, the designer Marco Ciampalini – whose CV includes the likes of Dsquared2, Riccardo Tisci, Alessandro Dell’Acqua, Helmut Lang, Michael Kors, Allegri and Neil Barrett, as well as the subsequent role of Fashion Creative Director for Gazzarrini – gives VAR/CITY a tailored couture edge that blends shape, construction and performance materials.

Overall, VAR/CITY seamlessly embodies the minimalist attitude of big urban centers with the aesthetics of couture for the few, giving a well-rounded but edgy interpretation of a style that’s just perfect around the clock.

Distributed up to 40 international high-end boutiques, VAR/CITY is rapidly growing and competing with high-end brands in terms of price point and in-store positioning, and is becoming a must of the fashion scenario.

Vittorio Branchizio is the winner of the last edition of “Who’s on Next?” Man 2015, the project of scouting for young talents promoted by Fondazione Pitti Discovery in collaboration with Altaroma and L’Uomo Vogue. Founded in 2014, the Italian brand has established itself as a young pioneer in the world of men’s knitwear, redefining the boundaries of style experimentation. His first collection, spring-summer 2015, was widely acknowledged as a concentrate of passion, beauty and technology.

Entirely designed and Made in Italy, the new Fall-Winter 2015-16 collection is inspired by geometrical shapes, in particular polyhedrons, and a reinterpretation of their influences across the ages. Starting from Archimedean solids, Luca Pacioli’s divine proportions and the epiphanies of Giovanni da Verona, up to Escher and Adriano Graziotti – the F/W 2015 collection reworks the subtle line between freedom and rules, with an outstanding result.

The geometrical shapes are brought to life on threads with different weights and precious fabrics such as silk, finished cashmere and double merino wool filled with eco hypoallergenic, ecological material.

The Italian word sprezzatura [=meaning a perfect conduct or performing a task without any effort] is the main drive of Loris Messina and Simone Rizzo, who make up the creative duo SUNNEI. The key words of their style are elegance, youth and no frills. Producing only a few pieces each season, SUNNEI is characterized by an essential design – as well as the extreme attention to detail – and its unique appeal, unconcerned by trends and ephemeral fashions.

Fall / Winter 2015-16 Collection
The colour palette of SUNNEI widens itself on the F/W 2015-16 collection: the denim meets a soft burgundy velvet, the greens and blues embrace the greys and yellows creating an unusual harmony, according to the theme of the collection: clash. Hereto, the soft texture of wool coats matches perfectly structured, unlined, compact suiting. Classic garments rethought with a modern twist; the clothes are pleasant to the view, as well as very comfortable when worn. The shirts are available in the doubled cottons regular cut version, as well as in printed selvedges and stripe-patterned denim.

Starting out as a designer at Iceberg, Andrea Cammarosano has gone on to create his own line to represent the unique, personal experiences and encounters that have gifted him with a multi-dimensional perspective. A view that pays homage to Italy’s legacy of classic elegance and respect for tradition. He tells Vogue Italia: “My motto is: dream and question your identity, but never forget who you are.” Andrea enjoys collaborations and is commissioned work by clients from all over the world. To keep himself and his line fresh and inspired, he seeks beauty and drama everywhere, using them as guides to constantly spark his imagination.

SPRING/SUMMER 2014 COLLECTION
Drawing inspiration from worker and miltary uniforms, Andrea Cammarosano shows reverence to rank and to the wisdom gained from experience in a world where ritual objects are intended to preserve history as relics. The heritage of craftmen techniques and the irreplaceabe touch of the expert human hand lies at the heart of his concept as he makes a subtle comment on the failure of mass production to preserve these legacies.

Andrea Cammarosano’s Spring/Summer 2014 collection “Difendi Conserva Prega” (Defend Conserve Pray), comprises a series of modular outfits that tell a tangible story. Multiple details fit together with zippers, buttons, drawstrings and straps to make unordinary uniforms. Fabrics, patterns and cuts are look to the uniforms of Taliban soldiers and civilian workers. The interchange of graphics and embroidery from one piece to the next, recalls the ritual of mourning and comes to own tradition through a message of hope for the future proposed by an imagined Grass Roots movement.

PREVIEW OF THE FALL-WINTER 2014/15 COLLECTION
The concept of Andrea Cammarosano’s Fall-Winter 2014/15 collection is “We Are Not Afraid of Ruins”; a set of clothing rich in heavy construction and precise tailoring. A black and white color palette dominates the collection. Re-invented suits composed of exaggerated coats and billowing pants live balanced by slim counterparts which inspire a touch of delicacy given by fine embroidery and unique textures like leather and printed foam.

During the leading fashion trade fair, Pitti Immagine Uomo, last January, L’Uomo Vogue and GQ Italia launched “The Latest Fashion Buzz“ . The aim of the project was to give support and visibility to a selection of new talents in male fashion dividing them in two categories: formal and informal.

For the event, 10 brands from different countries were chosen ranging from accessories to ready to wear. Among them, the Italian ones were: Andrea Cammarosano, CB Made in Italy and WD-Man.

Seeking inspiration from the themes of travel and “citizens of the world”, Andrea Cammarosano weaved his collection into the realms of dream and reality in a fashionista version of Stravinsky’s Firebird. In the original plot, all men who enter The Garden of Kashei are turned into stone warriors by a terrible guardian. The entrance of the Firebird gives way to a dance that puts to sleep all the men granting them their freedom back upon their awakening. The collection translates the fluidity of the dancers and the hardness of warriors into dark colors juxtaposed by whites and transparencies, and by alternating more or less rigid materials.

CB Made in Italy by designer Cecilia Bringheli, presented the handmade shoes she produces for men and women in a small factory in Northern Italy. The brand’s birth is related to the designer’s personal desire to find shoes that were simple but chic at the same time. The first pieces that were ever made were loafers. Today’s collections are divided into timeless creations that make use of more classical materials and seasonal products more prone to the introduction of new materials and trends.

To transpose the concept of luxury to contemporary times ensuring supreme quality and comfort, every step of the process from cutting the leather to assembling all parts of the shoe is meticulously reviewed. The combination of traditional Italian craftsmanship – each pair takes at least three hours to make – and modern technologies results in slippers, moccasins, ankle boots and boots made of leather and suede fit for any occasion.

CB Made in Italy also partnered with Missoni and the online shop Muzungu Sisters that promotes handmade craftsmanship in fashion from different countries. The limited edition capsule collection includes three loafers made from fabrics contributed by Missoni, and can be shopped here. Ten percent of profits will be donated to children in need from the non-profit, Small Steps Project.

WD-Man is a project by Salvatore Battello: a capsule collection of jackets inspired by British sartorial tradition. The techniques and principles used to conceive it though, were strictly Made in Italy. Developed in six different styles to present an array adequate for outdoor and indoor occasions, the chosen fabrics were exclusive English wools and tweeds.

Most shapes, reminiscent of typical military uniforms, gave each piece a sense of a distinguished and manly nobility. The touch of Innovation came from the act of deconstructing the original versions to recreate modern wearable pieces for today’s men.

Like many other existing projects pushed during fashion week, The Latest Fashion Buzz wants to promote and give international value to young designers by making use of one of the most important fashion fairs of the world. Thanks to L’Uomo Vogue, GQ Italia and Pitti Immagine Uomo for buzzing fashion’s doorbell with a handful of hot new talents. #Fashtags is proud to keep fashion buzzing about it too.
