A life journey around the world, from Paris to Milan, from London to Shanghai.

« Style, Art, Life » is the second mandarin art book collection, by Nancy Zhang – chinese artist now living in Berlin – yet a review and sentiment of her art  style and personal aesthetics in the past 6 years.

«Style is a surface, is the concentration and reflection of experiences, yet a production of your mind. » – she explains – « It has been changing by your thinking, revealing your memories from the past sometimes. It is a mirror beside oneself, a shadow below oneself. »

The artbook, launched first in Milan and then last October at 10 Corso Como Shanghai with a special exhibition, combines western and oriental style with Zhang’s personal aesthetics.

Thus the mandarin artist creates a sentimental review in which each fashion photography matches a corresponding illustration with the addition of author’s personal essays. She talks about fashion, expressing through art the love for last generation of designers, for their creativity and passion.

Between the selected brands, thanks to the cooperation with Fashtags that connect the artist with the fashion talents, Vivetta, Miryaki and An Italian Theory become illustrations in the book and has the opportunity to exhibit their outfits in Shanghai.

The collaboration of the creative duo, An Italian Theory + Azzurra Gronchi started back in April 2013 and has developed into a new accessories collection for this FW14-15 season. Accessories showing unusual shapes, clearly inspired by the geometrical figures of triangles, squares, rectangles and semicircles also make their way into the knitwear collection.

The An Italian Theory original pattern presents new elements and features prints of “gesticulating hands” in the form of “ok”, “hearts” and “fists”. An additional “animal-patchwork” puzzle showcases pieces of different animals and naturally goes on to assemble unexpectedly bizarre ones.

The use of recycled materials is new in the An Italian Theory accessories collection. Parts of unisex backpacks and female clutches show recycled metal plates of various shapes and sizes taken from old metal shutters discovered at Nicola Corsaro’s warehouse – a vintage repository in Bari – and are re-colored to combine with the FW14-15 color palette. An Italian Theory brings back forgotten materials and objects to a new and glamorous life.

#F: What do you think are the distinguishing elements of Made in Italy?
EC: The quality and the selection of materials to create garments that become one with whoever wears them; just like a second skin

#F: Which concept or mood best represents your style?
EC: My icons are Rita Hayworth, Audrey Hepburn and most divas of that era. I’m inspired by the 1950s, blues music, femininity and self-confidence, the image of a cigarette in one’s mouth, sexy women and soft hair waves.

#F: What do you think of the designers we’ve selected on Fashtags so far? What are your preferences?
EC: I appreciated  Vivetta; the pastel colors and unexpected details like the huge bows and the neoprene daisies on the oversize coats. The limited edition collection of  An Italian Theory’s Alessandro Enriquez with Azzurra Gronchi very much represents my Sicilian roots; the colored fabrics are so summery and they remind of the typical folklore of Southern Italy.
