Marianna Cimini SS14
BRAND IDENTITY

After launching her eponymous label in 2012, Marianna Cimini was warmly acclaimed at both the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week and Vogue’s Talent Contest. At its core, the brand’s vision reflects a blend of rigor and play given by the contrast of very traditional materials such as compact woven cotton and cutting-edge technical fabrics. Colors are sharp and powerful at the same time, and give way to bold and contrasting marriages that Marianna sums up with the definition of “metropolitan graphics”. The brand’s personality draws its sensibility from an effortless structure: an affinity between innovation, strict proportions and everyday wearability.

CONCEPT OF COLLECTION S/S 2014

Marianna Cimini’s S/S14 collection alludes to a radiant Jackie Kennedy who chooses to spend her holidays on the Amalfi coast in 1962. It’s an informal, carefree and amused Jackie, whose innate glamour glows through the magazine covers of the time. In this case, Amalfi isn’t only one of Italy’s most iconic summertime destinations, but also the designer’s land of origin.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

The collection is shaped through the chic and effortless glamour of an Italian vacation, with each piece resulting in a masterly blend of architectural elegance and slouchy minimalism. Using the 1960s as a main standpoint, the collection reinvents and revamps volumes and proportions. The tulip shape functioning as an architectonic support, it plumps up and exaggerates structures into unexpected looks, juxtaposing them with modern and casual silhouettes.

The outerwear pieces in nylon or cotton, “bloom” like flowers in the sun and once again design unconventional figures. Tulip-inspired pants and shorts are built like petals around the legs, while high waisted skirts look like crowns of petals opening up softly. Classic, masculine shirts combine their soft petal sleeves with the boxy cuts of their body.

The 1960s “bon ton” fashion classic shift dress, gets reinterpreted through graphic elements that highlight the structural essence of the collection. Fabrics meet classic yarns and innovative inserts: from terry cloth to reversible nylon, to the sumptuous touch of cupro. Paying homage to the rich palette of Mediterranean colors, white stands for Amalfi’s houses, red for their roofs, and coral and blue for the sea.
