The inspiration behind Lucio Vanotti’s SS14 Woman collection “Pool”, derives from his previous SS14 Man collection. From the depth of mathematical equations, Lucio Vanotti explores the interplay of silhouettes by dissecting his collection into sections, and then creating contrast and interaction between surfaces and textures.
In the part of the collection dedicated to structured but laid-back garments, printed fabrics, minimalist pocket details and subtle perforations contradict each other.
Classic dresses, skirts and pants get deconstructed only to be set up again into essential forms. Skin and fabrics breathe, move and interact with each other compassionately.

By looking at the classical dimensions of Romanian-born sculptor Brâncuși’s “Egg” piece, Vanotti’s SS14 results as a breezy and rather intimate operation. A muted color palette of whites, hued reds, indigo blues and notes of deep black accompanies the understated egg shell prints providing a graphic quality to the overall downplayed feel of the collection. Surfaces are slightly grainy to resemble a metaphorical second skin.

Lucio Vanotti merges classic fabrics in an innovative composed manner. A selection of alcantara, smooth silky cotton, crispy silks, mako jersey, white pleated cotton and lightweight knits, vehicles a translucent touch with fluid feminine shapes. The anatomy of forms, lines and textures, shapes yet another chapter in the designer’s dedication towards sartorial understatement and effortless composure.
