Marianna Cimini makes cool functional sportswear with sharp and structured silhouettes, by going back to Amalfi in the 1960s to take a break with Jackie Kennedy.

BRAND IDENTITY

After launching her eponymous label in 2012, Marianna Cimini was warmly acclaimed at both the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week and Vogue’s Talent Contest. At its core, the brand’s vision reflects a blend of rigor and play given by the contrast of very traditional materials such as compact woven cotton and cutting-edge technical fabrics. Colors are sharp and powerful at the same time, and give way to bold and contrasting marriages that Marianna sums up with the definition of “metropolitan graphics”. The brand’s personality draws its sensibility from an effortless structure: an affinity between innovation, strict proportions and everyday wearability.

CONCEPT OF COLLECTION S/S 2014

Marianna Cimini’s S/S14 collection alludes to a radiant Jackie Kennedy who chooses to spend her holidays on the Amalfi coast in 1962. It’s an informal, carefree and amused Jackie, whose innate glamour glows through the magazine covers of the time. In this case, Amalfi isn’t only one of Italy’s most iconic summertime destinations, but also the designer’s land of origin.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

The collection is shaped through the chic and effortless glamour of an Italian vacation, with each piece resulting in a masterly blend of architectural elegance and slouchy minimalism. Using the 1960s as a main standpoint, the collection reinvents and revamps volumes and proportions. The tulip shape functioning as an architectonic support, it plumps up and exaggerates structures into unexpected looks, juxtaposing them with modern and casual silhouettes.

The outerwear pieces in nylon or cotton, “bloom” like flowers in the sun and once again design unconventional figures. Tulip-inspired pants and shorts are built like petals around the legs, while high waisted skirts look like crowns of petals opening up softly. Classic, masculine shirts combine their soft petal sleeves with the boxy cuts of their body.

The 1960s “bon ton” fashion classic shift dress, gets reinterpreted through graphic elements that highlight the structural essence of the collection. Fabrics meet classic yarns and innovative inserts: from terry cloth to reversible nylon, to the sumptuous touch of cupro. Paying homage to the rich palette of Mediterranean colors, white stands for Amalfi’s houses, red for their roofs, and coral and blue for the sea.

A party attitude for contemporary princesses and rockstars, and a world of geometries for strong glamorous girls.

Fausto Puglisi dreams to possess an atelier but has an industrial vision of it: lots of Italian labs creating state-of-the-art garments to be delivered to his clients in elegant hat boxes bearing their names.

The Sicilian-born designer who went to America aged 18, gets discovered by Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana with their “Young Designers” project. Personally chosen to be showcased in their exclusive multi-brand store Spiga 2 in Milan, Puglisi is exhibited alongside the newest names in fashion in an atmoshphere of shared culture and innovative aesthetic ideas.

With his profile on the rise also thanks to personalities such as pop star Madonna and Vogue Japan’s editor-in-chief Anna Dello Russo, Puglisi chooses Amber Le Bon – the daughter of lead singer from the 80s cult band Duran Duran, Simon Le Bon – as his muse for the F/W 2012 campaign, and presents his first S/S 2013 collection in the hall of the prestigious historic Palazzo Serbelloni situated in the heart of Milan.

Entirely produced in Italy by specialized artisans, his creations are born to exceed absolute luxury. They are made for women with a party attitude who represent strength and glamour today; contemporary princesses and rockstars who also seek casual but well-constructed business attire.

Puglisi loves visual culture and mixes both high and popular culture, turning his brand into a world of inspirations: Sicily, Italian neorealist films, the American star system, Roman gladiators, modern architecture and the Mediterranean Baroque. As of 2012, Puglisi has also been nominated creative director at the famous Italian fashion brand Emanuel Ungaro. Fausto Puglisi can be summarized as: the one who will no longer show 2D items of clothing like everyone else, but who will homage fashion with a new 3D perspective.
